THE FREESTYLE 50

The Freestyle 50 could not have been better. Had a great time I got to talk to tons of fantastic people and meet some of the artists involved that I didn’t know. I will deffinitely be doing this next year. Thank you to everyone involved for your hard work and dedication. And for everyone that attended thank you for such a positive event and feedback.

Here are the three boards I did for the show. The two blue ones are still for sale.

The Freestyle 50

So I have neglected my blog for a bit, I have been pretty busy with work, freelance, my kids, and this other thing called the Freestyle 50. This is an art show that my friend Jeremie Memming and I had started talking about almost two years ago. Well between Jeremie and my GF I was motivated into putting together this potentially remarkable art show where we feature local Nebraska artists (38 to be exact) work on 50 skateboards. Here are teasers of the three boards that I painted for the show. For those of you anywhere close to Lincoln, Nebraska please make time to come to the show on June 5th 2009 at Screen Ink.

Simple yet great typography

This is for an exhibit that Gestalten is promoting. I think the typography is great, it looks like Didot or Bauer Bodoni with some really nice modifications to it.

Vinyl

I have been wanting to do some custom vinyl toys for a while now but as usual never found the time to actually sit down and do it. Finally had a reason to make time for it, I was asked to do  a self portrait Munny by Kidrobot for a design panel that I will be on talking to college students about design in the professional world the event is called Me Myself & Design.

Once I got this one done I was inspired to do a couple more. The Milk one was a fun little joke for a friend and I have another on the way that I am really excited about so hope everyone enjoys.

Capacity TV

Ran across this today and couldn’t help but share it. Cartoon Network has re branded and in doing they have shown the world exactly how much effect the Vinyl Toy culture has had on mainstream society.

Market 2 Market Relay

Ok I know this is my design blog but I feel this is still relevant. I ran with a team this weekend in the first annual Market to Market relay in Nebraska from Omaha to Lincoln, a total of 86.2 miles. The team I was on had 8 members all of knowing we were just not going to win the race but we could still make an impact and I feel we did just that. We were the Just Us League. Yes nice play on words to the ever popular comic Super Heros the Justice League, and for you diehards out there I know not all of the members of our team were from the Justice League. We were very excited to participate in this event and cannot wait to do it again next year. We did not win the Race but we sure did put up an extraordinary effort in running the distance in 11 hours and 12 minutes, also we did win the costume contest and are already concepting ideas for next year.

Big big shout out to the Market 2 Market organization commitee, outstanding job overall was a great event and well thought out and put together. Thank you, and can’t wait for next year.

Zombie Walk

So tonight was the Zombie Walk in Lincoln, NE. I went down just so a crowd of zombies could eat me. I really enjoyed myself and the experience. Next year I might even be a zombie.
